1. Pedestrian crossing
A pedestrian crossing is a designated place where pedestrians may cross a road. It is commonly indicated by road markings, traffic signs, signals or a combination of these measures.
Drivers must approach with appropriate caution and give way when required by local law. Pedestrians must also observe approaching traffic and follow any pedestrian signals or instructions from authorised traffic controllers.
When must drivers give way at a pedestrian crossing in Greece?
At a marked crossing without traffic lights or a traffic officer, approach slowly. If pedestrians are using or preparing to use the crossing, stop and remain stopped until they have left it. Follow the applicable signals at controlled crossings.

Are all pedestrian crossings controlled the same way in Greece?
No. Follow the applicable lights or traffic officer at controlled crossings, and do not obstruct pedestrians crossing with permission. Turning drivers must yield to pedestrians using or entering a crossing on the road they enter. At an uncontrolled marked crossing, stop for pedestrians using or preparing to use it.

May I enter a pedestrian crossing if the road beyond it is blocked in Greece?
Wait before the crossing until you can clear it without obstructing pedestrians. Overtaking immediately before or on a marked pedestrian crossing is prohibited. Do not treat an apparently clear view as permission to overtake there.

Yes. Article 42 requires using them where present.
What must Greek pedestrians assess at an uncontrolled crossing?
The distance and speed of approaching vehicles before stepping out.
How should Greek pedestrians cross where no crossing is provided?
First ensure they will not obstruct vehicles, then cross perpendicular to the road.
May Greek pedestrians climb roadside barriers to reach the opposite pavement?
