Keywords

An overview of the keywords about traffic. Here you can easily look up keywords and definitions that you do not know yet.

Driver

A driver is someone who drives a vehicle. Anyone who drives a vehicle or guides, or guards, towing, loading and riding animals or cattle.

Pedestrian

A pedestrian is a person travelling on foot, whether walking or running. In modern times, the term usually refers to someone walking on a road or footpath. Because pedestrians are not protected by their vehicle they are classified as vulnerable road users, especially children, elderly and persons with disabilities.

Cyclist

A cyclist is a road user who moves with the bicycle in traffic. If there is no bike path, they drive on the road with other traffic. Respect for each other contributes to safe and smooth traffic. Important safety features are bicycle lighting, helmet and a bell.

Moped

Mopeds are road users who move with the moped in traffic. Generally having a less licensing requirement than a full motorcycle.

Motorcycle

A motorcyclist is a road user who moves with a motorcycle in traffic. Motorcycles have a higher rate of fatal accidents than cars, trucks or buses. Many countries mandate the wearing of protective equipment such as protective clothing and a helmet.

Car

A car or automobile is a wheeled motor vehicle used for transportation. Basically a car drives primarily on roads, seats one to eight people, has four tires, and mainly transport passengers rather than goods. Cars have controls for driving, parking, comfort and a variety of lights. Over the decades additional features have been added, making them more complex but also more reliable.

Bus

A bus is a vehicle intended for the transportation of people. Buses can have a capacity as high as 300 passengers. The most common type is the single-deck rigid bus, with larger loads carried by double-decker and articulated buses, and smaller loads carried by midibuses and minibuses while coaches are used for longer-distance services.

Train

A train is a form of rail transport consisting of a series of connected vehicles that generally run along a railroad (or railway) track to transport passengers or cargo.

Tram

A tram is a rail vehicle that runs on tramway tracks along public urban streets. The lines or networks operated by tramcars are called tramways. Tram vehicles are usually lighter and shorter than main line and rapid transit trains. Today, most trams use electrical power, usually fed by a pantograph sliding on an overhead line.

Caravan

A caravan or camper is towed behind a road vehicle to provide a place to sleep which is more comfortable and protected than a tent. It provides the means for people to have their own home on a journey or a vacation, without relying on a motel or hotel, and enables them to stay in places where none is available. However, in some countries campers are restricted to designated sites for which fees are payable.

Trailer

A trailer is an unpowered vehicle towed by a powered vehicle. It is commonly used for the transport of goods and materials. Sometimes recreational vehicles, travel trailers, or mobile homes with limited living facilities where people can camp or stay have been referred to as trailers.

Priority vehicle

A priority vehicle is any vehicle that is designated and authorized to respond to an emergency in a life-threatening situation. These vehicles are usually operated by designated agencies, often part of the government, but also run by charities, non-governmental organizations and some commercial companies. Emergency vehicles are permitted by law to break conventional road rules in order to reach their destinations in the fastest possible time, such as driving through an intersection when the traffic light is red, or exceeding the speed limit.

Police

The police is a government agency charged with maintaining public order and security, tracking down and investigating criminal offenses, providing direct assistance and carrying out detentions.

Ambulance

An ambulance is used to transport emergency services to a place where urgent help is needed and to transport victims or patients to the hospital.

Fire department

A fire truck is a vehicle that the fire service uses in the event of a fire or an accident. They are normally fitted with sirens and emergency vehicle lighting.

Siren

A siren is a sound signal that priority vehicles use to warn other road users that they have to pass.

Question 17: Wrong Answer! The correct answer is "End Single Carriageway". It indicates the end of a single carriageway road. So, "End of a Motorway" is the closest correct answer. Question 107: Wrong Answer! The symbol for "no parking" when on a square sign on a white background means "Limited Parking Area"...An area where parking time is limited. Therefore, the correct answer...or the closest to being correct is "Begin a zone where parking is allowed" Question 129: Wrong Answer! The correct answer is "Single Carriageway". According to the rules for signs in Spain the posted image indicates an end for track reserved for cars. Which was not an answer available on this 'test'. The image for 'End of Expressway' is an image of an Autovia in a blue rectangle with a red slash diagonally across the Expressway.

Sometimes when I choose the correct answer, it says I am wrong. Then it shows the correct answer which is the same as I picked. Other times, when I get to a new question, it is automatically marked as wrong before I even have a change to answer it.
