El viento lateral sopla transversalmente respecto al sentido de marcha y puede desplazar un vehículo hacia un lado o afectar a su estabilidad. Las ráfagas fuertes o repentinas son especialmente peligrosas para motocicletas, bicicletas, caravanas, remolques y vehículos altos.
