1. Picnic site

A picnic site is a designated outdoor area where travellers or visitors can stop to eat and rest. It commonly provides picnic tables or benches and may also include parking, litter bins, toilets, shelters or other recreational facilities.

Picnic sites may be located at rest areas, parks, scenic viewpoints or tourist destinations and can be indicated by service, recreational or tourist signs. The symbols used vary between countries.

Is there currently a specific Belgian road sign for a picnic site?

No dedicated picnic-site sign is defined in the currently applicable Belgian Road Code. Picnic areas may instead be indicated by local, recreational or tourist signage.

Will Belgium introduce a specific picnic-site road sign?

Yes. The new Belgian Code of the Public Road introduces the F76 sign, which specifically indicates a picnic area.

When does the Belgian F76 picnic-site sign become part of the new Road Code?

The new Code of the Public Road is scheduled to replace the current Road Code on 1 June 2027. Until then, the current traffic-sign system remains applicable.
