103. Adult
An adult is a person who has reached the age at which they are legally considered an adult under the laws of their country. In road traffic, adults may participate as drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists or other road users.
Being an adult does not by itself determine a person's traffic rights or responsibilities. These depend on factors such as the type of road user, vehicle, driving licence and traffic situation.

What is an adult?
An adult is a person who has reached the legal age of adulthood in their country.
Are adults a separate category of road user?
Not generally. Traffic rules normally classify people according to their role, such as driver, passenger, pedestrian or cyclist, rather than simply as adults.
Do all adults have the same traffic rights and responsibilities?
No. The applicable rules depend on the person's role in traffic, the vehicle being used, licensing requirements and the particular traffic situation.
