1. End of restriction

End of restriction means the end of one or more local traffic restrictions that applied to vehicles on the preceding section of road. It may be indicated by a specific end-of-restriction sign, by the crossed-out version of an earlier restriction sign or by another sign that establishes a new rule.

After a de-restriction sign, drivers must follow the normal traffic rules and any new restrictions that apply. It does not mean that there are no speed limits or traffic rules beyond the sign.

Which sign indicates de-restriction in Belgium?

The Belgian C46 sign indicates the end of all local prohibitions imposed on vehicles in motion.

Which restrictions can the C46 sign end in Belgium?

The C46 sign may be used to end local restrictions imposed by signs concerning U-turns, overtaking, overtaking by certain heavy goods vehicles and speed limits.

Does the C46 sign remove all traffic rules in Belgium?

No. It ends the applicable local prohibitions covered by the sign. Drivers must still obey the normal speed limits, general traffic rules and any other restrictions that apply to the road.
