1. Equestrian

An equestrian is a person who rides or works with horses — especially in horseback riding, training, or equestrian sports Even though horses aren't cars, equestrians (horse riders) do need to follow traffic rules when riding on or near roads. These rules are meant to protect the rider, the horse, and other road users. In many places, horses are considered “vulnerable road users”, like pedestrians or cyclists — so extra care is expected from both riders and drivers.

  • Slow down when passing horses.
  • Give plenty of space — at least 3-5 meters (or as required by law).
  • Don’t honk — loud sounds can startle the horse.
  • Pass slowly and carefully, then continue only when safe.
