74. Europäische Abgasnorm
Eine europäische Abgasnorm, meist als Euro-Norm bezeichnet, ist eine europäische Fahrzeugklassifizierung auf Grundlage von Grenzwerten für Schadstoffe, die von Fahrzeugen und ihren Motoren ausgestoßen werden. Aufeinanderfolgende Normen wie Euro 4, Euro 5 und Euro 6 führten schrittweise strengere Anforderungen für Schadstoffe wie Stickoxide, Feinstaub, Kohlenmonoxid und Kohlenwasserstoffe ein.
Die Euro-Norm eines Fahrzeugs wird im Rahmen seiner Typgenehmigung festgelegt und hängt unter anderem von Fahrzeugkategorie, Kraftstoffart und den zum Zeitpunkt der Genehmigung geltenden Emissionsvorschriften ab. Euro-Normen können von Behörden auch zur Regelung der Zufahrt zu Umweltzonen verwendet werden; die örtlichen Zufahrtsregeln unterscheiden sich jedoch zwischen Ländern und Städten.
