1. Manual transmission

A manual transmission (also called a stick shift) is a type of vehicle gearbox where the driver manually changes gears using a clutch pedal and a gear stick.

  • Key Parts of a Manual Transmission:
    • Clutch pedal - Disconnects the engine from the wheels so you can change gears.
    • Gear stick - Lets you select different gears.
    • Gears - Control the balance between speed and power.
  • How It Works:
    • Press the clutch with your left foot.
    • Move the gear stick into the desired gear.
    • Release the clutch smoothly while pressing the gas.
  • Common Gear Positions:
    • 1st gear – starting from a stop.
    • 2nd–5th (or 6th) – increasing speed.
    • R – reverse.
    • N – neutral (no gear engaged).
