1. Emergency exit

An emergency exit is a specially designated route or door designed to allow people to safely and quickly evacuate a building, vehicle, or area in the event of an emergency—like a fire, accident, or other dangerous situation. In short: an emergency exit is your fast, safe way out when things go wrong. It’s a key part of any evacuation plan and can literally save lives in critical situations.

  • Must be clearly visible and well-lit.
  • Should be kept unobstructed at all times.
  • Buildings must have a certain number of exits based on size and occupancy.
  • Often included in fire escape plans.
  • Misusing or blocking an emergency exit can result in fines or penalties.
