150. First aid kit
A first aid kit is a collection of medical supplies intended for providing immediate basic care after an injury or accident. A vehicle first aid kit commonly contains items such as sterile dressings, bandages, adhesive plasters and other basic wound-care materials.
Some countries require certain vehicles to carry a first aid kit, while in others it is only recommended. The kit should be stored where it can be reached when needed, and its contents should be checked regularly so that required items remain complete and usable.

Is a first aid kit compulsory in a car in Belgium?
Yes. Cars in Belgium must carry the required first-aid equipment. For an ordinary passenger car, this normally takes the form of a first-aid case containing the items prescribed by the technical vehicle regulations.
What must a Belgian car first aid kit contain?
The prescribed basic kit includes sterile dressings, triangular gauze, bandages, antiseptic adhesive plasters and safety pins or equivalent fasteners. It must also contain information about its contents and first-aid instructions.
Do buses and coaches need a larger first aid kit in Belgium?
Yes. Buses, coaches and certain vehicles used for passenger transport must carry a larger universal first-aid chest. Vehicles in this category with a maximum authorised mass above 5000 kg must carry two such first-aid chests.
