100. Trailer
A trailer is a vehicle designed to be pulled by another vehicle rather than move under its own power. Trailers are used to transport goods, equipment, boats, caravans or other loads and can vary greatly in size and weight.
Drivers towing a trailer should make sure it is correctly coupled, properly loaded and suitable for the towing vehicle. The trailer can increase the combination's length, weight, stopping distance and space required for turning.

How is a trailer defined in Belgium?
A trailer is legally defined as any vehicle intended to be moved by another vehicle.
Can you tow a trailer with a category B driving licence in Belgium?
Yes, within the applicable weight limits. A category B licence allows a trailer with a maximum authorised mass of up to 750 kg. A trailer over 750 kg is also permitted with category B when the combined maximum authorised mass of the towing vehicle and trailer does not exceed 3500 kg.
When do you need B96 or BE for a trailer in Belgium?
If the trailer exceeds 750 kg and the combination exceeds 3500 kg, category B with code 96 permits a combination up to 4250 kg. For a category B towing vehicle with a heavier combination, a BE licence may be required according to the applicable weight limits.
