119. Tailgating
Tailgating means driving too closely behind another vehicle without leaving enough distance to react and stop safely if the vehicle ahead slows down or stops suddenly. The safe following distance depends on factors such as speed, road conditions, weather and visibility.
Drivers should leave sufficient space between their vehicle and the vehicle ahead and increase that distance in rain, snow, fog or other conditions that increase stopping distance.

What is tailgating?
Tailgating means following another vehicle too closely to maintain a safe stopping distance.
Why is tailgating dangerous?
Following too closely gives the driver less time and distance to react if the vehicle ahead brakes, slows down or encounters an unexpected hazard.
When should you increase your following distance?
You should increase the distance in conditions such as rain, snow, ice, fog, darkness or poor road surfaces and whenever visibility or tyre grip is reduced.
