1. Chairlift

A chairlift is an aerial transport system used mainly at ski resorts and mountainous areas to carry people (often skiers or hikers) uphill in open or semi-enclosed seats suspended from a moving cable.

  • Chairs – usually hold 2 to 8 passengers, with safety bars.
  • Suspended cable – continuously moves, driven by motors at the station.
  • Two stations – bottom station for boarding, top station for disembarking.
  • Open-air travel – passengers remain seated while lifted above the ground.
