6. Zone
A traffic zone is an area in which a traffic rule applies throughout all included roads or road sections. The rule normally begins at a zone-entry sign and remains applicable until the corresponding end-of-zone sign is passed.
Zones may regulate speed, parking, access, vehicle categories, emissions or other traffic behaviour. The signs used, the roads covered and the effect of intersections or local exceptions depend on local traffic law.

How do people refer to traffic zones in Poland?
A Polish speed zone is a strefa ograniczonej prędkości. It is different from a strefa zamieszkania, the residential-area category with its own 20 km/h limit and additional rules.

Where does a zone rule apply in Poland?
The speed shown at the zone entrance continues through junctions until the zone-end sign. Do not apply the ordinary junction-ending rule for a road-specific speed sign to the whole speed zone.

Can speed humps inside a Polish speed zone be present without individual warning signs?
Yes. In a speed zone limited to 30 km/h or less, speed humps or other devices requiring slow driving may be present without additional warning signs. Watch the road layout and keep your speed appropriate.

How do you know when a traffic zone ends in Poland?
Look for the end-of-speed-zone sign. That ends the zone limit, but the ordinary built-up-area limit, a new signed limit or a different special area can then apply.
