1. Engine

An engine is the power source of a vehicle—it converts fuel into mechanical energy that moves the car. It's often called the heart of the car, since it drives all motion and powers many vehicle systems. The engine is what makes your car go. Whether it runs on gas, diesel, or electricity, it turns energy into motion and keeps you moving.

  • Burns fuel (gasoline, diesel, or electricity in hybrids/EVs).
  • Converts that fuel into energy through combustion or electric power.
  • Uses that energy to turn the wheels, either directly or through a transmission.
  • Types of Car Engines:
    • Gasoline engine - Quick, lightweight, used in most passenger cars.
    • Diesel engine - More fuel-efficient, used in trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
    • Hybrid engine - Combines a gas engine with an electric motor.
    • Electric motor (EVs) - Fully electric, no fuel needed, powered by batteries.
