1. Ice

Ice is one of the most dangerous road conditions, where a thin or thick layer of frozen water covers the road surface, causing extremely low grip. It makes braking, steering, and accelerating very difficult, and can lead to sudden loss of control, especially when the ice is not visible (black ice).

  • Very long stopping distance (much longer than snow).
  • Extremely slippery surface and often invisible (black ice).
  • Common at low temperatures (around 0°C or below).
  • Forms easily on bridges, tunnels, and shaded areas.
  • Increase following distance to the maximum.
  • Avoid all sudden movements (braking, steering, accelerating).
