A crossing guard is a person who helps pedestrians—especially children—safely cross the street, usually near schools or busy intersections.
- Stop traffic using a stop sign or signal.
- Help children, parents, and other pedestrians cross roads safely.
- Ensure drivers obey traffic laws around crosswalks.
- Sometimes report dangerous driving or assist with emergency situations.
- Near schools, busy crosswalks, parks or playgrounds.
